Method:
-A common preparation method is to react 3-fluorobenzyl alcohol with hydrogen oxide to prepare 3-fluorobenzaldehyde, the 3-fluorobenzaldehyde is then reacted with dibromomethane to give 3-fluoro-4-bromobenzaldehyde. Finally, 3-fluoro-4-bromobenzaldehyde was converted to 3-Fluoro-4-chlorobenzyl bromide by chlorination.
